Tapered pants

I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of tapered trousers! The more I look the less I seem to find. They've got to be ankle grazing, but the right kind- it's depressing when you look in the mirror and see you're wearing trousers that just look like they've shrunk in the wash. I imagine them to be supple but heavy, and to hang beautifully. Pockets are a must, but if there's any hint of harem style about them, well, just no. They should be masculine and tailored and easy to move in. And black, most definitely black.

Why are the simplest things often the hardest to find?

  4. I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair too! I love the second pair here. The simplest things (navy sweater, breton etc) ARE the hardest to find but the satisfaction you feel when you finally track them down is the best! xxx

  5. True. The more you look the less you find indeed.

  6. http://www.reiss.com/womens/trousers/tailored-trousers/paris/black/ I have these in Navy and have just bought them in black. They have zips on the insides of the ankles, but I carefully used a seam ripper to remove them, and then used tiny stitches to join the edges. Or you could get a tailor to remove them if you don't want to. It's usually best to take the next size down in Reiss. Hope that helps!

    2. Reiss is surprisingly nice, once you get past the Kate Middleton stuff. Been reading your blog for ages and love it - keep up the good work!

    3. Oh, and they have a little bit of elastane so they're super-easy to move in. (I don't work for Reiss, I promise! Just very enthusiastic about their trousers, haha)

    4. Thank you! Thats very kind.

I used to have a dark grey silk jumpsuit from Reiss which I regret re-selling! I agree, not too fond of the 'Middleton style'. Reiss makes great long linen tops and tees which last for years!

The trousers sound perfect! I'm going to try them on asap. I like the look of them, but I think I would remove the ankle zips too. I have bought a very inexpensive pair from H&M, just to see me through until I find a pair I will have for years.
