If you read my DETOX post, you'll know I'm trying to change the way I look at buying clothes. I am limiting myself to purchasing 4 or 5 pieces per season, and want to invest my money in great quality clothes which I know I will have for years and years. (I'm not sure what effect this will have on my blog, but if I get really boring do let me know!)

My first investment purchase has been these Isabel Marant 'dicker' boots. My intention isn't to suddenly start buying loads of really expensive things (I can't afford to anyway), but thinking I'd never find a pair of these boots in the first place, I half-heartedly phoned every Marant stockist in the UK and they all put me on waiting lists, but the last boutique I rang had one pair left. I couldn't let these babies pass me by. No regrets either - they fit like a glove and will go with everything I wear. The colour couldn't be better either. My parents went halves with me for my up-coming 18th birthday which was very kind. The girl at the boutique I got them from said they might be the last pair in the UK, but I think she was just being nice. In any event, I got very lucky and I think they were meant to be!

I comfort myself with the fact that I have probably spent the equivalent in Topshop on things that have ended up in charity shops or on eBay after being worn very little (something I refuse to ever do again). I know I will get my money's worth out of these perfect boots. I'm even taking them to a cobblers to have an extra protective layer put on the sole, just so they last longer! You won't be seeing them until I turn 18 now (a weeks times!) because my Mum has tucked them away. What a motherly thing to do!

Also, thank you for all your amazing feedback on yesterdays post. I was worried I had rambled on a bit, but it was lovely hearing what your ideas about shopping/consumerism are. Maybe I'll do more talkative posts in the future. You're all wonderful.
